U.S. Sanctions on Iranian-backed Iraqi Groups

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Friday that the United States has imposed new sanctions targeting armed groups operating in Iraq and supported by Iran. The sanctions include Kata'ib Hezbollah, one of the main Iraqi armed groups allied with Iran, which the United States has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
