Google Prepares AI to Take the Lead in News Reporting

Google is studying the use of artificial intelligence tools for writing news articles and is in discussions with news organizations to use these tools to assist journalists, according to a spokesperson mentioned today by the newspaper Okaz. The New York Times reported that Google has held discussions with The Washington Post and News Corp, the owner of The Wall Street Journal, among other organizations.

The spokesperson for the American tech giant stated that these AI tools could help journalists choose headlines or different writing styles in a way that "enhances their work and productivity," adding that it is still in the "early stages of exploring ideas." The New York Times indicated that some executives who viewed Google's presentation described it as concerning, noting that the executives requested to remain anonymous. Additionally, they reported that the AI tool presented is referred to within Google as "Genesis," according to sources familiar with the matter.
