An American senator and his family were killed in a small plane crash while traveling through Utah, according to local authorities. The Grand County Sheriff's Office stated in a release that "State Senator Doug Larsen was piloting the aircraft while traveling with his wife Amy and their two children in Grand County, Utah, where it crashed due to contact with the ground, resulting in the deaths of the entire family."
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed in a statement that the single-engine plane crashed around 8:20 PM local time on Sunday. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting an investigation into the incident.
