Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed the Kingdom's appreciation for the Chinese initiative to support efforts in developing good neighborly relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran during a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In turn, President Xi Jinping announced that his country is ready to continue supporting the ongoing dialogue process between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Xi Jinping praised the Kingdom's role in enhancing the development of relations between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as other countries in the Middle East. Chinese state media reported that Xi emphasized that both countries would strongly support each other on issues concerning their core interests and make further contributions to promoting peace, stability, and development in the Middle East.
During the call, the aspects of the partnership between the Kingdom and China were reviewed, along with the joint coordination efforts to enhance cooperation in various fields. Earlier this week, Saudi oil giant Aramco bolstered its investments in China, which are estimated at billions of dollars, by finalizing the largest deals announced since Xi’s visit to the Kingdom in December, where he attended a summit with leaders of Gulf Arab states. Iran and Saudi Arabia had agreed to restore relations after years of animosity following talks in China.
