As part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat drug smuggling and trafficking operations, and as a result of the field and investigative follow-ups conducted by the specialized units in the Information Branch, confirmed information was obtained regarding a drug smuggling network preparing to smuggle a quantity of drugs from Spain to Lebanon.
Following extensive investigations and inquiries conducted by the branch, the identity of a member of this network was determined. This individual was assigned to receive the goods from a postal company using a forged identity and is named F. T. (born in 1988, Syrian). On 4-6-2023, after careful observation and monitoring, a patrol from the Information Branch managed to apprehend him in the Shweifat area. Upon searching him, the goods were seized, consisting of 10 boxes of seeds.
Laboratory analyses conducted on samples of the seeds revealed that 5 of the boxes contained seeds belonging to the cannabis plant, which are suitable for cultivation. During the investigation with F. T., he confessed to the charges against him, and legal action was taken, placing him along with the seized items under the jurisdiction of the relevant authorities. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the network.
