Leader in the Fatah Movement, Major General Munir al-Maqdah, has denied the news of his resignation from the movement. In a statement, he said: "There are reports circulating in news groups about the resignation of Major General Munir al-Maqdah. We categorically deny this news and confirm that Major General Munir al-Maqdah is present at his work and is following all details." Reports indicated that al-Maqdah had resigned from his position in Fatah after the failure of negotiations to reach a ceasefire agreement. He has been quoted saying, "I will not be a false witness to the massacre taking place in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, as I will not end my life in a game of blood, given that a large conspiracy is being plotted against Ain al-Hilweh camp."
