Erdogan Announces Major Trade Corridor Linking Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE via Iraq

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today, Sunday, that his country will work with both the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as well as Iraq, on a railway and ports corridor in the region. He expressed hope, during a press briefing at the conclusion of the G20 summit in New Delhi, that the ports and railways project would align with China's Belt and Road Initiative.

In a separate context, Erdogan ruled out the sustainability of any initiative isolating Russia regarding the revival of the Ukrainian grain export agreement via Black Sea ports. He confirmed that Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey will continue discussions on the grain agreement, noting that Russia is prepared to send free grains to poor countries, a move that Turkey supports, and clarified that Qatar has also agreed to this. Erdogan stated that reviving the grain agreement is not "impossible."
