The mayor of Oicha in North Kivu province announced today, Friday, that "suspected Islamic militants killed at least 14 people in an attack on a village in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo last Thursday evening." He told Reuters that "Allied Democratic Forces rebels killed civilians with knives and firearms before fleeing." Mayor Nicolas Kicukiro stated, "For now, calm has returned to the area, although the residents are frightened."
