The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Tuesday, that Canada has imposed new sanctions related to Iran, targeting seven individuals accused of being involved in activities that threaten international peace and security. The Canadian foreign ministry noted that among those sanctioned is a former commander of the Revolutionary Guard and other senior Iranian officials linked to entities supplying security forces in Iran with materials and equipment. The ministry confirmed that the sanctions also target individuals holding high positions in state-run companies that produce combat drones used by the Iranian armed forces or exported to Russia. The targeted individuals will be prohibited from entering Canada, and a ban on dealings with them will effectively freeze any of their assets in the country. Iran has repeatedly denied sending drones to Russia for use in its war against Ukraine.
