British nurse Lucy Letby, 33, was convicted today of killing seven newborns and attempting to kill six others in a care unit at a hospital in northwestern England where she worked, justifying her actions by stating, "I am evil." Prosecutors told the jury that she poisoned some of her victims at Countess of Chester Hospital during night shifts in 2015 and 2016, by injecting them with insulin, injecting air, or forcefully feeding milk into their mouths, and that she attacked some victims multiple times before their deaths. In handwritten notes discovered by police officers searching her home after her arrest, she wrote, "I killed them deliberately because I do not have enough kindness to care for them... I am a hideous evil... I am evil and I did this." Among those she attacked were twins that she killed together. She attempted to kill a girl three times before finally succeeding on the fourth attempt.
