The International Labor Organization (ILO), a UN agency, stated today, Monday, that "Gaza has lost more than 60 percent of its jobs since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), exacerbating the already deteriorating economic situation in the besieged sector." The organization noted that "the total losses amount to 182,000 jobs in the small Palestinian sector." Even before the war and the tightening of the economic blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip, around half of the strip's population of 2.3 million lived below the poverty line.
