OPEC: COP28 Needs to Find "Realistic Methods" to Reduce Emissions

The Secretary-General of OPEC, Haitham Al Ghais, indicated today, in remarks delivered by an official, that "COP28 must find 'realistic methods' to reduce emissions, which require the involvement of all energy sources and technologies." The official stated on behalf of Al Ghais: "Ultimately, this approach must include all types of energy, all people, and all technologies, while being committed to principles of equity and differing responsibilities." He added: "We need realistic methods to address emissions, an approach that can achieve economic growth, help eliminate poverty, and increase resilience at the same time."
