Interior and Municipalities Minister Bassam Mawlawi strongly condemned the attack on the US embassy and confirmed in a phone call with US Ambassador Dorothy Shea that "security agencies are conducting thorough investigations to uncover the circumstances of what happened." Mawlawi assured Shea that "security agencies are working to apprehend the perpetrators and hold them accountable," highlighting "the importance of the ties that unite Lebanon with the United States, which always supports the legitimacy represented by the security forces and the Lebanese army."
