The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, a major humanitarian relief organization, announced today, Wednesday, that it has halted some of its operations following a directive from the Taliban to stop Swedish activities in the country. The relief organization stated in a press release: "Some activities of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan have been suspended." The Taliban administration stated last week that "all Swedish activities in Afghanistan must cease in response to the incident of burning a copy of the Quran in the capital, Stockholm, last month."
