The Irish Times reported that Irish Foreign Minister Micheál Martin stated that "23 Irish citizens have left the Gaza Strip today, Wednesday, via the Rafah border crossing into Egypt, marking the first group of Irish citizens to leave the area since the onset of the war between Israel and Hamas." The Irish government had previously mentioned that "about 40 Irish citizens are stranded in Gaza." Prime Minister Leo Varadkar had earlier expressed expectations that more Irish citizens would be added to the list of individuals permitted to leave Gaza in the coming days.
