China Provides $200,000 to Morocco for Earthquake Relief Efforts

Chinese official media reported today, Monday, that "the Chinese Red Cross will grant the Moroccan Red Crescent $200,000 in emergency humanitarian aid following the devastating earthquake that struck the country on Friday." The "China Daily" newspaper stated that "the Chinese Red Cross said the donations will be used to assist Morocco in carrying out rescue and disaster relief efforts." Official media noted that "Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his condolences to Moroccan King Mohammed VI, stating in his message that he was shocked to learn of the violent earthquake that caused significant loss of life and property." The state-run "CGTN" television station in China indicated that Chinese medical workers in Morocco are effectively assisting the victims, including during the aftershocks that followed the earthquake. The television report mentioned that the city of Ben Guerir in central Morocco is the closest to the earthquake's epicenter that a medical team from China can reach.
