Security sources reported that four Katyusha rockets were launched today, Monday, at the Ain al-Assad airbase in Iraq, which hosts American and other international forces in western Iraq. It is not yet clear whether the attack caused material or human losses, and two military officials indicated that the rockets may have landed far from the base. Two security sources stated that the rockets were fired from a desert area about 25 kilometers north of the base and that security forces have begun searching for the attackers. Attacks on American forces have increased since the outbreak of the conflict in Israel on October 7, and Iraqi armed groups allied with Iran have threatened to target American interests with rockets and drones if Washington intervenes to support Israel against Hamas in Gaza.
