On Tuesday, the Spanish police announced that the body of an infant was washed ashore at a beach near the city of Tarragona, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, last week. The body belongs to the child of migrant parents who perished in a boat capsizing that claimed the lives of all 15 individuals on board in April. The eight-month-old infant had been traveling with her parents on a boat that departed from Algeria on March 21 before capsizing off the Balearic Islands on April 6. Upon discovering the body on July 11 in Roda de Berà, the police analyzed a genetic sample and confirmed it matched that of the woman whose body was recovered after the boat sank. Roda de Berà is a town located on Spain's Golden Coast, about 200 kilometers northwest of Mallorca. Eight bodies of migrants who drowned in the incident were found, including the bodies of the infant and her mother.
