The son of Imam Musa al-Sadr confirmed, during a meeting with a delegation of officers from the first training course of the Amal Movement in Homs in 1976, who visited the Imam al-Sadr Research and Studies Center in Beirut, that "the information we possess from Libyans, judicial investigations, and the official follow-up committee all confirm that Gaddafi arrested the Imam and his brothers, imprisoned them, and transferred them from one prison to another, and from one area to another. Even until late August 2011, before the fall of Tripoli, the Imam was held in a special detention center where Gaddafi would place his sons and relatives when he wanted to punish them." Imam Sadr al-Din Sadr continued: "It is essential to intensify efforts from all religious authorities and concerned parties in pursuing the case of freeing the Imam and his brothers so that Lebanon and everyone can enjoy their safe return to Lebanon and their fields of struggle."
