Russia Launches Airstrikes in Southern and Eastern Ukraine

The Ukrainian Air Force announced early on Tuesday that Russia carried out airstrikes overnight in southern and eastern Ukraine using drones and possibly ballistic missiles. It mentioned via the Telegram app that "the southern port of Odesa and the regions of Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhia, and Dnipropetrovsk face the threat of Russian drone attacks." It noted that "Russia may be using ballistic weapons to target the regions of Poltava, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Kirovohrad." Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reported a fire at one of the port facilities late Monday night, which provides Ukraine with access to the Black Sea. Sienkevych described the fire via Telegram as "very dangerous," adding that "more details will be announced later." The head of the military administration in Odesa stated that "air defense systems have intervened to thwart attacks by Russian drones."
