The Head of the European Union Mission to Syria, Dan Stoenescu, stated that nine out of ten young Syrians want to leave the country, with one in five having concrete plans and four learning German. He noted that these individuals are mostly educated and bright, and it's unfortunate they won't stay to help their homeland. In a tweet, he expressed deep sadness upon returning from Syria to Beirut due to this reality. He emphasized that addressing the root causes of the Syrian crisis and adopting a constructive stance instead of defiance is now more necessary than ever. Stoenescu highlighted that the plight of Syrians continues with no sign of progress toward a political solution, and for the EU, the conditions for normalization with the Syrian regime have not been met. The European Union and its member states are united in their stance, which is why he believes there is a need for a constructive approach from Damascus.
