Scientists in Australia have discovered a new species of venomous snake, which was previously thought to be a known species. According to the Daily Mail, genetic studies conducted by researchers at the University of Adelaide, led by geneticist James Nankivell and Mark Hutchinson, revealed that the venomous snake Demansia Cyanochasma is a distinct new species, not previously considered to be a related species. Hutchinson noted that Demansia Cyanochasma is often confused with other species due to similar physical characteristics. However, after sampling the tissues of climbing snakes and making comparisons, they found that this is an independent species. The Demansia Cyanochasma is venomous but is not considered a threat to human life, as its bite causes no more than some pain and swelling. These snakes primarily feed on lizards. They are about 70 cm long and are very slender, which means they have very small heads and short fangs.
