Rare Talks Between Washington and Beijing on Nuclear Arms Control

The United States and China held rare talks on Monday regarding nuclear arms control, in a new step aimed at reducing distrust between the two countries ahead of an upcoming bilateral presidential summit next week. This meeting, which is the first dedicated to nuclear weapons between the two powers since former President Barack Obama's administration, comes at a time when the United States is expressing concern about China's growing nuclear arsenal. A breakthrough is not expected in the one-day talks in Washington, following the visit of Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
