The German newspaper "Bild" reported that there is an intention in Saudi Arabia to organize a major European tournament that gathers the best teams from the Old Continent, allowing Roshan League teams to participate. This comes after weeks of speculation in the media suggesting that the Arab state plans to involve its teams in the UEFA Champions League, a claim that was later denied by all parties involved.
The German newspaper stated that Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of the European Club Association, has concerns regarding the idea of creating a new "Super League," similar to the one that did not succeed a few months ago. Several European clubs, led by Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus, announced the European Super League with the backing of major investors, but the project stalled due to actions taken by UEFA.
According to the newspaper, it is possible that teams may disregard threats from local and continental federations if the financial returns are enticing enough. It is worth noting that the Kingdom will host the Club World Cup, which gathers continental champions with the Saudi league champion, scheduled for next December.
