Israel to the Security Council: Hamas Solely Responsible

Israel informed the United Nations Security Council today, Saturday, that the Islamic resistance movement "Hamas" "bears sole responsibility and will face the consequences" of its attacks on the country. Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, wrote to the council in a letter seen by Reuters, stating, "The State of Israel will act in any necessary way to protect its citizens and sovereignty from the ongoing attacks launched from the Gaza Strip by Hamas and other organizations." The Jordanian Foreign Minister discussed with the EU's foreign policy chief the necessity of initiating international action to stop the escalation in Gaza.
