Residents of the Zarabi village in Sohag Governorate have issued a distress call due to their village being attacked by spirits, according to a report by "Egypt Times." In a live broadcast, the villagers explained that suddenly fires began erupting in their homes daily; mere minutes after controlling one blaze, another ignites in a different location, emphasizing that such occurrences had never happened before.
The villagers spoke of a state of fear, panic, and anxiety as fires have consumed their homes for nearly a month without a clear and specific cause, resulting in significant losses, including burnt furniture, dead livestock, and destroyed courtyards. One villager noted that nine residential apartments had some of their contents charred, along with the loss of four cows and a fire in their enclosure.
Regarding the cause of these incidents, villagers suspect that spirit groups are to blame, particularly since the fires often ignite in wet areas. One villager stated, "It must be the spirits causing this."
A woman from the village said, "We brought in sheikhs from Aswan and Sohag, and every time we paid them considerable amounts, yet the fires continued."
One villager issued an urgent plea, affirming, "We want compensations that will allow us to rebuild our homes."
