Officially.. Benzema Excluded from Saudi Union Squad

French striker Karim Benzema's name was not included in the list of his team Al-Ittihad's squad for the match against Uzbekistan's Olmaliq this Monday evening, in the first round of Group C in the AFC Champions League. The Saudi club has not announced the reasons for Benzema's exclusion from the match, but local media have revealed that the French star is suffering from an injury. Benzema, who won the Ballon d'Or for Best Player in the World last year, joined Al-Ittihad during the last summer transfer window from Real Madrid. Al-Ittihad currently tops the Saudi Professional League standings with 15 points, having won 5 matches and lost 1.
