Video... Army Commander: Only the Chief of Staff Has the Right to Take Over the Army

The Commander of the Army, General Joseph Aoun, received in his office in Yarzeh the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Ronica, and discussed the general situation in the country. He also welcomed the Maronite Archbishop of Australia, Bishop Antoine Tarabay, leading a delegation, where various matters were discussed.

**Promotion of Officers**

General Aoun awarded the promoted officers the insignias of the rank of Brigadier General in the General Najim Hall - Yarzeh, congratulating them on their promotion and the occasion of Father's Day, considering the promotion a well-deserved result of their efforts and sacrifices. He affirmed that the primary objective of the military institution is to protect civil peace and stability despite the difficulties.

He addressed the officers by stating: "You are confronting the crisis and taking on your responsibilities with transparency and professionalism to protect Lebanon, which is the highest and most important goal of ranks for you." He added, "Only the Chief of Staff has the right to take over the army, acting on behalf of the Commander of the Army. This is clearly stated in the National Defense Law. Therefore, the appointment of military council members is essential."

He concluded by thanking everyone who facilitated the signing of the promotion decrees, particularly the President of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, and the Prime Minister, Najib Mikati.
