White House Excludes Immediate Solution in Sudan

The White House expressed concern over violations of the ceasefire in Sudan, fearing that the situation could escalate at any moment. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the U.S. administration is troubled by the ceasefire violations in Sudan. She mentioned that the U.S. State Department has preliminarily deployed consular staff and added that an improvement in the situation is unlikely, urging Americans to leave Sudan within the next 24 to 48 hours. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) said today that a relatively small number of Americans are currently seeking to leave Sudan, noting that international flights are still departing the country, in response to questions about military evacuation operations by sea. Brigadier General Patrick Ryder stated, "We are working closely with the State Department to determine the number of Americans who want to leave Sudan." He added, "So far, the indicators we have are that these numbers are relatively small. However, we recognize the potential for that to change quickly."
