The female elephant "Noor Jehan" fell into a pond today, Thursday, at the Karachi Zoo in Pakistan. The World Animal Protection organization, Four Paws, recommended that "Noor Jehan" be lifted using ropes and straps immediately after the incident. Since then, "Noor Jehan" has shown signs of weakness with limited mobility. Four Paws spokesperson Katarina Braun stated, "Her condition is extremely critical right now. We are doing everything we can to save her. It is very important that she gets up as soon as possible. Lying on the ground for too long can endanger her life." During his visit to treat "Noor Jehan," Dr. Amir Khalil from Four Paws noted that she is suffering from a large hematoma in her abdomen, in addition to stomach issues. Pakistani authorities decided to dismiss the Karachi Zoo director Khalid Hashmi from his position on April 8 due to neglect-related complaints.
