Clarification from Mawlawi Regarding the Ban on a Party Festival in Hamra

The media office of Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi, in the caretaker government, commented on the claims regarding the prohibition of a festival commemorating the Wimpy operation on Hamra Street. The media office clarified in a statement that "Mawlawi requested the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Aboud, not to approve the permits for the festivals after it became clear that the two factions divided within the Syrian Social Nationalist Party had submitted requests for two separate festivals on the same date and in adjacent locations. Given that the state of division within the aforementioned party is still present, and considering the potential security issues that the holding of both festivals could cause, which may lead to disturbances or gunfire between the supporters of the two factions."
