Froind Appointed New Director of Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich, the reigning champion of the German Bundesliga, announced on Tuesday the appointment of Christoph Froind as the new sporting director of the club. The 46-year-old Austrian will join the German giants from Austrian club Salzburg, where he currently holds the same position, and will take up his role starting in early September. Bayern parted ways with CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić just minutes after securing their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title in the last match of the season. Froind, who spent 17 years at Salzburg, will replace Bosnian Salihamidžić at Bayern. Bayern's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen stated, "We are convinced that he is the right person to enhance the team's capabilities in the future in collaboration with coach Thomas Tuchel's staff." He added, "We have reached an agreement with Salzburg, where Christoph Froind has done an excellent job for many years, allowing Froind to continue overseeing transfers for the Austrian team during the current transfer window and he will not join us until the beginning of September."
