The Palestinian news agency (Wafa) reported that President Mahmoud Abbas called on the United Nations for immediate intervention to prevent a humanitarian disaster due to the "ongoing Israeli aggression... especially in the Gaza Strip." Abbas emphasized the "importance of delivering relief and medical aid to our people in Gaza."
