Irish McCabe Scores Most Beautiful Goal in Women's World Cup

During the match between Ireland and Canada in the second round of the group stage of the 2023 Women's World Cup, a goal was scored that many considered the most beautiful in the current edition of the tournament. The goal was netted by Irish player Katie McCabe in the fourth minute. McCabe scored her goal brilliantly and in a rare manner, striking a direct shot from a corner kick with her left foot into the net of the Canadian goalkeeper, who failed to save the ball.

This goal was Ireland's first in the history of the World Cup. Unfortunately for McCabe, her team lost their lead and ended up losing to Canada 1-2. Canada celebrated its first win in the current tournament after drawing goalless in their opening match against Nigeria, temporarily topping Group B with four points while awaiting the second match in the group, which later pitted Australia (3 points) against Nigeria (1 point).

Conversely, Ireland suffered its second defeat after losing 0-1 in the first round against Australia, placing them at the bottom of the standings.
