In his first appearance after the vote counting in the presidential elections, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated before his supporters in the capital Ankara that the preliminary results "show a significant lead" for him and that the counting of votes will continue both domestically and abroad. He accused his electoral opponents of "trying to deceive the public by claiming they are ahead," while also emphasizing that the final results are still unclear. However, he confirmed that he is ahead by a margin of "2.6 million votes" over his nearest rival, anticipating that this figure will increase with the official results. Erdogan remarked, "We do not know if the presidential elections will be decided in the first round... but if there is a runoff, we will respect that," expressing his confidence in winning in the first round. He called on the Turkish people to remain vigilant until the vote counting is completed. Regarding the parliamentary election results, the Turkish president stated that they show his alliance is achieving a majority, and that voters "who voted for our alliance in the parliament will undoubtedly stand on the side of stability in the presidential elections." Erdogan affirmed that no one "will disrupt the electoral scene with narrow political calculations."
