The Secretary-General of Catholic Schools, Father Youssef Nasr, reassured that "there will be a nearly normal start to the upcoming school year, provided that the conviction of parents, teachers, and educational institution administrations regarding the necessity of continuing the educational mission is present. It is also necessary to find the right policy to accommodate the financially struggling segment," emphasizing the "need to find solutions for public schools as they are a national necessity."
Regarding the agreement between private school administrations and teachers to pay between 35% and 65% of salaries in dollars next year, Nasr confirmed in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that he understands the teachers' demands and is striving to meet them across various educational institutions. He pointed out the "need to take into account the significant diversity among these institutions and their differing situations based on geographical areas. We aim to meet the demands without necessarily implying a 65% increase in dollar salaries, as this would result in a high cost for parents."
On the increase of school tuition fees next year, Nasr clarified that they "will double or triple because the financial and social incentives given to teachers have also increased by the same magnitude, which has led to a rise in parents' contributions in dollars to cover the required costs."
