British driver Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes snatched pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix in the Formula 1 World Championship today, Saturday, from Dutch driver Max Verstappen. Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, appeared set to start from the front, but Hamilton took the lead by just 0.003 seconds. Hamilton achieved a record by claiming pole position in Hungary for the ninth time, more than any other driver on any circuit in Formula 1 history. After celebrating with his team, Hamilton said, "It has been a tough 18 months, and I am grateful to be here because the team has done an amazing job. We have been pushing all this time for pole position, and I feel like it’s the first time."
