A young Egyptian man stirred anger among many after posting a series of videos showcasing his father's moments as he was dying on the TikTok platform.
The man, named Mohamed Allam, shared a video of his father lying in a hospital bed, captioning it: "My dad is dying, share the video so many people can pray for him." Indeed, many people prayed for his father. However, that was not the end of it; after his father's death, Mohamed began to share additional videos he recorded during his father's final hours alive. In one of the videos, he was seen crying while filming his father's body in a shroud, writing: "My dad died, share the video so people pray for mercy for him."
The young man faced severe backlash for a video where he filmed his father on the way to the hospital while in a state of extreme illness, stating: "It was the last time I saw my dad with his eyes open," which led to an outpouring of angry comments criticizing him for filming his father in such a condition and accusing him of exploitation for views. Despite the video garnering over a million views, viewers mocked his strange behavior.
To mitigate the backlash for his unjustified actions, the young man later appeared in another video, crying and explaining why he shared these videos, asserting his desire for as many people as possible to pray for his father after his passing, denying any intention of seeking views or trending on social media.
