Army Member Hit While Attempting to Stop Van

The army leadership reported that "during an attempt by an army patrol in the Al-Qubour Al-Bayda area near the northern border to stop a Hyundai van carrying Syrians who had illegally entered Lebanese territory, the driver of the vehicle hit one of the patrol members in an attempt to run him over and flee the scene, despite the other members firing warning shots into the air. This forced them to open fire on the vehicle's tires." This resulted in the driver being injured and losing control of the vehicle, which then collided with an electrical pole, leading to his death. He was transported to a regional hospital, and an investigation is underway under the supervision of the relevant judiciary. It is noted that the driver was a Lebanese national from the town of Mashta Hammoud.
