An Israeli official stated today, Sunday, that Israel will allow for a significant increase in aid directed to the Gaza Strip in the coming days, urging Palestinian civilians to move to what he described as a "humanitarian" area in southern Gaza. Colonel Elad Goren from the Government Coordination Unit with the Palestinians, a unit under the Israeli Ministry of Defense, said, "We intend to significantly increase the volume of aid next week." He was referring to assistance heading to Gaza from Egypt. Goren told media during an online press conference, "We have established a humanitarian area in southern Gaza in the Khan Younis region. We continue to recommend that evacuated civilians go to this area." Goren did not specify whether the humanitarian area is new or an existing one.
