America Ends Program for Developing Future Offensive Reconnaissance Aircraft

After spending nearly two billion dollars, the U.S. Army announced on Thursday that it will halt its program for developing future offensive reconnaissance aircraft known as "FARA," which are next-generation reconnaissance helicopters. The U.S. Army stated that following a "thorough assessment of the modern battlefield," it will increase investment in drones. Army Chief of Staff General Randy George said in a statement, "We are learning from the battlefield, especially in Ukraine, that aerial reconnaissance has changed radically." The Army began the FARA program in 2018, investing approximately two billion dollars. Additionally, the Army announced it will cease production of the "UH-60V" version of the Black Hawk.
