The White House commented on the investigation that Republicans in the House of Representatives plan to open regarding the impeachment of President Joe Biden, stating that their plan seeks to condemn Biden without evidence. The White House said in a statement, "The most extreme members of the Republican caucus in the House, the same individuals that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy appointed to lead the baseless impeachment process: guilty first, find the evidence later."
It explained that lawmakers like House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, House Oversight Chairman James Comer, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Representative Matt Gaetz have claimed that Biden should be treated as a criminal and that there is enough evidence against him. It pointed out that other Republicans in the House "dispute these heinous false claims," highlighting lawmakers like Representative Ken Buck, who stated in an opinion piece that his colleagues "are relying on a fabricated history in impeachment proceedings."
The White House stated, "They are on a politically motivated witch hunt and are willfully ignoring that their claims have been debunked repeatedly, not only by the White House, or Democrats in Congress, or mainstream media, but by their fellow Republicans," adding: "The more time they waste on this wild chase, the more they reveal that this investigation is a political stunt."
