Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati praised the outcomes of the Jeddah Summit that reflects the alleviation of crises in the Middle East. He indicated that "Lebanon has been and still is sick and needs its neighbors to recover, and any political agreement in the region will necessarily reflect on it."
Mikati stressed that the Lebanese have not helped each other and stated, "We need dialogue... If the Lebanese had helped one another, they could have chosen a President for the Republic." He called on Arab neighbors to assist Lebanon in establishing internal dialogue, highlighting that "Lebanon needs economic support from its Arab brothers," noting that "if Lebanon had a President, its situation would be much better."
He continued, "We do not need a new 'Taif Agreement'... We need to complete the 'old Taif'." He emphasized once again that Lebanon has been and still is ill and requires the aid of Arab neighbors for recovery. He also pointed out that any political agreement in the region will inevitably reflect on Lebanon.
