Spain Wins Women's World Cup for the First Time

Spain has won the Women's World Cup for the first time in its history, defeating England 1-0 in the final on Sunday. The only goal of the match was scored by captain Olga Carmona in the 29th minute, with a shot from the left side of the penalty area following a fast counterattack after the English team lost possession in midfield.

Spain was awarded a penalty in the second half when midfielder Keira Walsh handled the ball in the area, but goalkeeper Mary Earps saved Jennifer Hermoso's shot.

The Spanish team missed the efforts of some of its key players due to a rebellion against coach Jorge Vilda a few months ago and suffered a 4-0 defeat against Japan in the group stage. However, they triumphed over England in the final to deservedly win a major tournament for the first time in their third World Cup appearance.

This marks the second defeat for the English team in 39 matches since Sarina Wiegman took charge, but it denied the team their first title in the tournament after winning the European Championship last year.
