Traders mentioned today, Monday, that "the General Authority for Supply Commodities, the Egyptian governmental buyer, is believed to have purchased about 50,000 tons of white sugar in an international tender that closed on Saturday." It was reported that the purchase was made from Savola at a price estimated at around $755 per ton, excluding unloading costs. The tender aimed for the sugar to arrive in Egypt in January-February 2024. There has been no immediate news regarding the completion of the purchase of the required white sugar also in the tender. Traders had reported offers in the tender earlier today, Monday. The reports reflect trader assessments, and further estimates of prices and volumes may still be made later.
