America Imposes Sanctions on Individual and Exchange Companies

The United States imposed sanctions on Thursday against "an individual and three exchange companies accused of facilitating the transfer of Iranian financial support to the Yemeni Houthi group," marking the latest American response to Houthi attacks on ships. The U.S. Treasury Department stated that "the exchange companies are based in Turkey and Yemen." Treasury Undersecretary Brian Nelson noted that "today's action underscores our determination to restrict the illicit flow of funds to the Houthis, who continue to carry out serious attacks on international shipping and risk further destabilizing the region."
