Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila warned today, Thursday, of the collapse of the health situation in the Gaza Strip due to a severe shortage of medical supplies, noting that "the large number of injuries exceeds the hospitals' capacity in the Gaza Strip." In related news, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced that "Israeli settlers killed two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank today, Thursday." The ministry reported that 1,417 Palestinians have been killed and 6,268 others injured in Israeli strikes on the besieged territory since Saturday. International organizations and the Red Cross have been urged to "immediately intervene to deliver medical supplies to Gaza and assist in establishing field hospitals in the area."
On the other hand, the International Committee of the Red Cross stated that "the besieged Gaza Strip still has some fuel to operate generators, including those in hospitals, but it may run out within a few hours." Fabrizio Carboni, the ICRC's regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, said, "What we understand is that there is still fuel, but likely for a few hours for the generators to operate, including those in hospitals." He added, "It is essential to allow the safe distribution of humanitarian aid that is already in the sector," noting that "the severely dwindling supplies in the sector cannot meet civilians' needs for long." Carboni pointed out that "there are supplies in Gaza, fuel, chlorine, and medical assistance. We have some stocks of aid and we want to distribute them." He continued, "With the supplies we have inside Gaza, we will not be able to support civilians for long. Therefore, we need to be able to bring supplies into Gaza."
