Scientists have discovered that not drinking enough water is associated with an increased risk of death. The journal EBioMedicine indicates that adults who do not consume sufficient amounts of water may age more rapidly and face a 20 percent higher risk of mortality compared to others. Researchers link inadequate water intake to a shorter life expectancy. They reached this conclusion from analyzing data from 11,000 participants in the study, where they found that individuals with a sodium concentration in their bodies higher than 142 millimoles per liter were 50 percent more likely to experience rapid aging. They found that the risk of death for these individuals increased by 20 percent. This appears to be connected to a higher likelihood of developing fatal diseases, including heart failure, stroke, diabetes, dementia, and chronic lung diseases.
