Accident in a Coal Mine in China Kills 12

Chinese state television reported today, Thursday, that an accident occurred in a coal mine in Heilongjiang province in the northeast of the country, resulting in the death of 12 people. The television added that 13 individuals were also injured in the incident, which took place yesterday, Wednesday, at the Kunyuan coal mine in Jishi city. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The coal mining sector in China has suffered a series of major accidents this year, despite government efforts to strengthen the enforcement of safety measures.
