Arrival of the First Batch of Lebanese Nationals from Sudan to Beirut

This afternoon, a Middle East Airlines plane arrived at Rafik Hariri International Airport from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, carrying the first group of Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian evacuees from Sudan, totaling 12 individuals. They were welcomed in the airport’s VIP lounge by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, the Lebanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Fouad Kibara, and the Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Committee, Major General Mohammad Khair. During the reception, Bou Habib expressed gratitude towards Saudi Arabia for prioritizing the evacuation of Lebanese nationals from Sudan, stating that “with consensus and cooperation, the impossible can be achieved,” and emphasizing that “our unity always rescues and succeeds us.” According to the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, the number of Lebanese currently in Sudan is approximately 100, and the evacuation process will continue in the coming days, as about 70 Lebanese have arrived in Port Sudan. The Beirut Airport is expected to receive the second batch comprising 32 individuals at 11:30 PM tonight.
